The exposed beams are probably not historically accurate, but our tour guide told us that they have to make some compromises to give the people what they want.
. . . and we have been debating amongst ourselves: are thatched roofs pretty or not? Tell me what you think.

Thatched roofs are ugly!!
I like them - they have an earthy beauty of their own. Hobbits homes have thatched roofs don't they!?
I like thached roofs. I might build a house that way sometime...
Its also nice and cool, cause the heat goes right through it (at least the kind of thach they use here)

I own one of those bundles of thatch. Uncle Brian bought it for me when we were in England.
